Storytellers (Virtual & In-person)
Part-time position overview
Woke Vote’s Storytellers (in-person and virtual) will support regional NC organizing through the strategic amplification of grassroots voices and timely calls to collective action across all digital platforms, and the development of printed collateral. The ideal candidate will have experience working on racial and social justice campaigns.
The Storytelling Captain reports to the Digital Director and will work closely with Woke Vote leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
in-person hires we are looking for any of the following:
Photographers
Videographers
Graphic Designers (position now closed, as of 2/26/24)
Virtual Storytelling Responsibilities (position now closed as of 2/26/24)
Work closely with Woke Vote’s leadership organizers to ensure effective storytelling, representation, and integration of marketing, highlighting Woke Vote achievements in all digital spaces
Engagement on social media, ensuring messaging alignment, quality and adherence to social media best practices
Develop content for bi-monthly email campaigns highlighting different aspects of Woke Vote’s work in their designated state/region.
Digital Organizing
Implement digital organizing strategy for the assigned Pennsylvania campaigns, including email calendar, building Woke Vote’s list, and mobilizing individuals to action through careful message testing and the strategic use of asks.
Develop relationships with partners across the assigned region.
Organizing Support
In partnership with Woke Vote leadership staff, capture content for photo, video, multimedia and print projects for use on all platforms.
Expand Woke Vote’s narrative reach and influence by building relationship with photographers, videographers, storytellers, producers, donors and creatives – both inside and outside of traditional organizing partners
Online Fundraising
Work with Woke Vote leadership staff to plan and execute at least multi-channel individual donor fundraising campaigns with clear goals and systems for reporting – Key opportunities tied to current events or campaigns
Use of digital best practices and support the implementation of email, social media and text messaging
Minimum Requirements
Commitment to Woke Vote’s mission, social justice and Black liberation.
Personal qualities include energy, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate and listen to others.
Demonstrated leadership experience.
1-3 years experience with civic and voter engagement strategies preferred but not required.
Possess strong interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills.
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of service-learning, civic engagement, and talent development.
Ability to collect and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes.
Ability to travel.
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.

Nash County
Wilson County
Lenoir County
Halifax County
Edgecombe County
COMPENSATION
$15 - $20 per hour / depending on experience
