POSITION OVERVIEW

Woke Vote Canvassers are a vital part of Woke Vote civic engagement outreach strategy. The Woke Vote Canvasser demonstrates an understanding of organizational priorities, mission, vision, values, and strategic goals and objectives, as well as trust and teamwork. This role requires door-to-door relationship-building and outreach for Woke Vote. The Canvasser must be able to work independently as well as interdependently with the team to advance the program’s mission, goals, and objectives.

***For those interested in being a Canvass Captain, the position is responsible for aiding in the implementation of full field and voter registration efforts in assigned counties within North Carolina. The Canvass Captain must develop and foster community partnerships and promote civic engagement through voter protection and turnout. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Community Outreach

  • Conduct door-to-door canvassing to engage with community members and educate them about their voting rights

  • Organize and participate in community events, meetings, and gatherings to foster relationships and build a strong network of supporters.

Mobilization and Advocacy

  • Encourage voter registration and facilitate the registration process for eligible individuals

  • Provide clear and concise information about voter registration procedures, voting deadlines, and any changes in voting laws or regulations

  • Distribute educational materials and resources to empower individuals with knowledge about their rights as voters

  • Collaborate with local community leaders, organizations, and influencers to amplify the message of voter rights and engage a broader audience

Organizing Support

  • In alignment with Woke Vote regional goals, capture content for photo, video, and multimedia for use on all platforms

  • Expand Woke Vote’s narrative reach and influence by building a network of online connections that help amplify the messages across all platforms

Minimum Requirements

  • Commitment to Woke Vote’s mission and social justice agenda

  • Personal qualities include energy, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate and listen to others.

  • Experience with civic and voter engagement strategies is preferred but not required

  • Possess strong interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills

  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of service-learning, civic engagement, and talent development

  • Ability to collect and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes

  • Ability to travel

  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments

Location

We will be hiring canvassers for each of the following NC Counties, but not limited to:

  • Pitt County

  • Nash County

  • Wilson County

  • Lenoir County

*All NC residents accepted, if willing travel to neighboring county areas.

Compensation

$20 - 25 per hour/depending on experience

*Increased pay for Canvass Captains
