Position overview

Woke Vote Outreach Coordinator is a vital part of Woke Vote and functions as the North Carolina County coordinator of the program. Outreach Coordinators are targeted in one of the following community areas: (Faith / Affinity Org / Small Businesses / Health / Unions).

Woke Vote Outreach Coordinators demonstrate an understanding of organizational priorities, mission, vision, values, and strategic goals and objectives, as well as trust and teamwork. This role requires managing in-person programming and outreach for Woke Vote. The Coordinator must be able to work independently as well as interdependently with the team to advance the program’s mission, goals, and objectives. The position is responsible for the implementation of full field and voter registration efforts in target state.

The Coordinator must develop and foster community partnerships and promote civic engagement through voter protection and turnout. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Under direction of the Woke Vote Team, the primary responsibilities are: 

  • Manages and facilitates day-to-day operations for Woke Vote within the county.

  • Create, lead, and train for civic learning, participation and other correlating items that directly coincide with the mission and goal of the organization. 

  • Work with our canvasser, data, and phone banker team that does our daily voter outreach, through thorough recruitment and hiring processes.

    • Navigating voter data (ie. cutting turf and developing phone lists)

  • Manage the development and implementation of civic and voter engagement programs, including voter registration, non-partisan voter education, voter turn-out efforts, and field/data tracking.

    • These programs will occur in partnership with HBCUS, PWIs, churches, union, small business, health, and other related organizations.

    • Must assist in the development and management of the identified number of events, forums, rallies, concerts  or other significant organizational events in target states.

  • Ensure we are measuring our impact by tracking data and inputting information that is collected through ongoing outreach efforts.

    • Conducts evaluations and assessments of the institute’s goals and progress; prepares reports for various internal and external audiences.

      • Weekly reports that mark milestones.

  • Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, partner organizations and other community leaders.

  • Onboard, hire and train leaders to manage programs.

    • Lead daily check-ins/meetings for coordinators.

  • Manages and maintains the budget for statewide operations in collaboration with the National Program Director.

    • Manage payment disbursement to local staff in partnership with the NPD.

Minimum Requirements

  • Commitment to Woke Vote’s mission, social justice and Black liberation

  • Personal qualities include energy, enthusiasm, motivation, commitment, integrity, humor, a positive attitude, and the ability to motivate and listen to others

  • Demonstrated leadership experience

  • 1-3 years experience with civic and voter engagement strategies preferred

  • Possess strong interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills

  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of service-learning, civic engagement, and talent development

  • Ability to collect and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes

  • Ability to travel statewide preferred

  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multicultural environment

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments

Location, Duration & Compensation

We will be hiring an Outreach Coordinator for each of the following NC Counties:

  • Pitt County

  • Nash County

  • Wilson County

  • Lenoir County

  • Halifax County

  • Edgecombe County

*All NC residents eligible, if willing to travel to neighboring county areas.

Compensation

$15 - $20 per hour based on experience
